Stuart’s Toyota Hilux Dual Battery Kit

Stuart came to us after his existing electrical system failed him on a camping trip. He has a beautiful young family and sadly after stocking up the fridge and arriving at their campspot, he discovered what no one wants on a trip - melted Ben & Jerry’s icecream and ruined kids yoghurts. We can’t have that! So, we kitted him out with a reliable, safe and properly cabled Hilux dual battery kit in the canopy.

There was an existing AGM battery mounted under the bonnet which was struggling to provide the power needed, so we replaced it with a 120Ah Lithium battery and moved it to inside the canopy. This Hilux dual battery kit is removable for a mobile power solution, or for extra space.

We added an Enerdrive DC-DC charger to keep the new battery topped up while the car is running & to trickle charge using solar when parked up during the day. The DC-DC was mounted on an accessory wall in the canopy which also holds the switches, battery monitor, fuse block, accessory sockets and USB ports.

To keep the canopy and campsite well lit, we added custom interior LED lighting throughout the canopy with 1 strip on each door and 1 running down the middle of the canopy.
