Dan’s 79 Series Landcruiser
4x4 dual battery system
If you couldn’t tell, we love Cruiser at Cruising Customs. So, we really enjoyed putting together this tidy 4x4 dual battery system in this 79 Series ute. Dan built an awesome setup in his canopy with drawers on one side and a fridge slide and sliding pantry cabinet on the other, so we wanted to keep the electrical system compact and discrete.
We went for a 100Ah slimline lithium battery with a Redarc DC-DC & solar charger. Our system was small and tidy enough to fit behind the fridge in the canopy, meaning it is completely hidden and protected. Leaving just our carpeted control box visible in the canopy - with a 12V switch panel featuring light switches, a battery monitor, USB sockets and 12V accessory sockets. We powered up his camping fridge and added some custom lighting throughout the canopy, using diffused & encased strip lights on both of the opening doors as well as inside the canopy. This lighting is controlled separately by switches on each side of the canopy.
We also mounted a 220W solar panel on the roof to trickle charge the battery during the day.
An awesome build with excellent finishes, this Cruiser is camping ready. Enjoy, Dan!
